Permission was given for Without Flaw (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post, and for Maris Angel (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Fionn McSharry had received prior permission from the BHA to run Maris Angel (GB) without hind shoes.
Hover On The Wind (IRE) kicked the running rail when leaving the chute.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Approximately three furlongs out, Money Pockets (GB), placed fifth, shifted slightly left-handed, causing Maris Angel (GB), unplaced, to be taken fractionally off its intended line, which as a result caused Without Flaw (IRE), unplaced, to be briefly caught on heels, and to be checked by the rider, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, and that it had not improved the placing of Money Pockets (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately one and a half furlongs out, involving Money Pockets (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Oisin Orr, BONNIE’S BOY, placed fourth, ridden by Warren Fentiman, and La Rochette (FR), unplaced, ridden by Jason Hart.
Orr was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he shifted left-handed when insufficiently clear, causing Hart to take a precautionary check for a number of strides, and Fentiman to become tight for room and as a result also take a precautionary check.
The winner, Our Absent Friends (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Catterick on 9 September 2025 where the gelding finished eleventh of 13 runners, beaten 5¾ lengths.
It was noted that Tristan Davidson could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Our Absent Friends (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, David Nolan reported that Hover On The Wind (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed.
