The winner, POET’S DAWN, appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Pontefract on 3 October 2022, where the gelding finished tenth of seventeen, beaten by 12 lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Tim Easterby could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
POET’S DAWN was routine tested.
Jack Garritty, the rider of Cisco Disco (IRE), placed second, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from inside 1 ½ furlongs out.
Following the race, Cieren Fallon reported that Wotever Next (GB), unplaced, hung badly right-handed; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
