He's a fair horse, everything went wrong that could go wrong and he still weaved his way through. Three down I was like 'oh no', it was like watching a horror movie. Billy was so cool on him, he got his spots and got out. It's onwards and upwards with him, it's exciting to have him. They are two lovely horses (Dance Night Andday who won yesterday) that have won this weekend. They both worked on Tuesday morning and you'd think coming here that both of them would run well, but you'd hardly think on Guineas weekend both of them would win. Tom Malone bought him in France and it was a great buy for Amanda (Torrens). Unfortunately, she couldn't be here today, she had to go to the north for another engagement. She was roaring the phone down and she's delighted. When he came off the lorry to us, and given his two-year-old form, he came off like a big scopey horse and not a horse that was all about two. He's simple enough at home, likes his routine. I feel sorry for Shane Foley as he's ridden all his work and won his maiden on him. He was mad to ride him but had to ride for Jessie (Harrington) and then that horse (Matter Of Fact) was taken out. He is Shane's ride.

It was a nice performance from a three-year-old to beat some hardened sprinters. He’s very consistent and we’ve a lot of options. He is entered in the horses-in-training sale at Newmarket and we’ve a good slot in that, three-quarters through the catalogue on the first day. That is an option and the owners will decide that. They’ve a very nice, fun, horse on their hands whatever they decide to do. He’ll go up in the handicap now. There is one race (Irish Lincoln) that comes to mind at the start of next season that could be an option for him now. We’ve been second and third in it a few years and we’d like to win it. All these Belardos keep improving. They like a bit of juice in the ground and the older they get the better they get. We’ve been very fond of the sire since we had Fiach McHugh that went on to win a Group 1 in Hong Kong after (as Red Lion).

I suppose he's back down to a rating of 80 which is a help to him, and the jockey’s 7lb claim helped as well. Patrick is an excellent claimer and has been very good all year for us. He has ridden winners and a lot of placed horses for us and I thought he gave that horse an exceptional ride, having received a lovely briefing from Ben Coen beforehand. We have a nice team in place with riders, which is a big help to us. The horse found plenty and that (1m2f) is absolutely his trip, he hits the line strong over that trip and loves the surface here. He's turning 10 in the new year, so every day is a bonus now. He's a lovely horse for the yard and hopefully he will come back here again or run over hurdles at Christmas.

He loves that ground. He had two runs earlier in the year and we thought he was coming to himself, but the ground was good on those days. Since Galway, we’ve been waiting for a bit of soft ground for him - the softer it is the better. When I was coming down the road, and could see the floods the whole way, I was thinking we could be in business here today. Martin (Sheridan, owner) has been a big supporter of the yard and it’s great for him to have a horse like this. He’s getting a bit older and I was thinking ‘does he still have it?’. It’s great to see him bounce back there. He’s been a good servant. He won a big handicap in Haydock last year and the year before he won a premier handicap in Cork. Soft ground is the key to him. We’ll see what the handicapper does and try and find something similar. It’s his time of the year now and hopefully he can go in again.
