The consistent Quint Major has Daniel King on board, and the form of his latest start in Cork reads well, with horses coming out of the race and winning since. Just For One was impressive when landing the spoils in Tramore and returns to action for the first time since April and can be dangerous if tuned for this contest.

The hill made a big difference to him and Simon said he was flat out going down to the second-last. We were thinking maybe another half-a-mile might suit him, but the hill just suited well. He’s rated 117 over fences and won in the ‘110’ grade here last October, but I don’t know if there is a 0-120 for him next month. This time last year we said he was a right horse and he’d win a bumper. He got balloted out of a few bumpers and we decided to give him a break. We brought him back for the winter but he doesn’t like soft ground, he’s a summer horse. He ran disappointing in two bumpers and we put it down mainly to the ground. We thought he didn’t stay and I’d say that’s as far as he wants it, two miles. He’s a great jumper, loves it, and jumped brilliantly. I’d say the ground was the whole thing for him and he grew up a bit in the meantime as well. He won’t be running in the winter again. He’s a fighter as well. He’s a nice horse at home and we did fancy him to win a bumper, and he would have on good ground but time was running out and we saw this race. It’s for horses that weren’t placed after two runs so we said we’d crack on and go for it. We’ll maybe look for a novice now and I think he’ll win a mile-and-a-half maiden on the Flat. We’ll celebrate this first and then see what happens.

That's my second track winner. I had my first on Winter Fog (April, 2021). His last two runs were disappointing, but we knew he was back in good form. He had a very good run at Limerick over Christmas. We ran him at Gowran then and we shouldn't have ran him on the heavy ground there. He scoped dirty after his run the last day. The lads riding him at home said he was flying. The trip was a bit sharp for him today, but he stayed on well up the hill. He's work at home has been very good.
