Formscan By Stuart Howden - CAUSE I LIKE YOU (11) is a consistent sort and might just be up to winning again. She ran a big race from a most unfavourable drawn when runner-up to the well-fancied favourite Chipsrdown at Gowran Park last month and it helps that the ground here should be more to her liking. The Blue Panther went well for new connections when second to Selective Power at Bellewstown last week and clearly has every chance again. Medieval Night can't be too far away from a breakthrough success on the back of three recent near-misses while Starflow is another obvious contender as chases a hat-trick after narrow wins at Cork and Dundalk.

It was well deserved, he’s an honest horse and he tries every time,. He’s obviously not as good as he was in his younger days but still he’s a nice fun horse. He’s often in the money. Wayne said they went a good lick today. We said we’d ride him from the middle, we didn’t want to make the pace as sometimes he might do a bit too much in front. We said we’d switch him off a bit and it worked out grand. A strong pace over seven suited him perfectly. It’s a lovely place to get a winner, we’ve had a few winners up here. He ran well in a big handicap here a year-and-a-half ago. We’ll see what the handicapper does and we might come back here again.

We are delighted with her. . Jack just said that she is mentally immature, which is lovely to hear when they have won. That would fit, as she just didn't know what she was doing in her earlier races and things didn't quite go right. . I walked the course there before racing and I thought the ground was lovely. She had a super draw and I just thought everything was in place for her to run a good race. . You never know in their first handicap. Anyway, it worked out well and she is maturing which is great. She is 51, so even if she gets clobbered she'll probably still be in a 0-60, which gives us options. Jack said between seven and a mile suits.

We gave her a bit of work in Dundalk before the end of the year and it wasn’t for her, so we put her away and waited for the grass. She loves that kind of ground. Last week in Navan, she just didn’t stay so we dropped her back in trip and it was ideal. She’s in at Bellewstown on Saturday and we might go again. We’ll see how she is. She likes the ground and if it dries up too much, it won’t suit her.

We had no luck with her at the beginning, we did various different things, and then we got Seamie Heffernan to ride her five times and she hit the crossbar a few times,. Seamie would come in and say ‘this one will win a race’. We bought her because Jessica’s father Tony is a friend of mine, and he works for me. We bought her originally because Jessica got her Flat licence but she just wasn’t doing what we’d like so we got Seamie then and in fairness to him he got off her the last time he rode and said this mare will win. Sometimes you don’t believe it, you think this is a jockey telling me a story, but she did turn up for Jessica the last day. He said maybe we should take advantage of the 7lb so we did the last day. Jessica is riding great. I said to her if she could take up the running and slow it down but she said that there were two horses in it that were runaways. She said she’d sit in. She’s still very young and hasn’t a pile of riding done but she was very clever there. She’s very good, she has a lovely feel for horses. I’m surprised she isn’t getting more spins. We only have five horses and they’ve all won. We’ve no serious horses but we do it for ourselves, which is better again.
