That was his second outing for Conor O’Dwyer and he went through the line well that day. Stepping up a bit in trip could help him defy a 9lb hike. Ripsnorter was also a good winner at the line when scoring at Downpatrick. He got a 10lb rise for that performance but has to be respected. He's a fine big horse, he has plenty of scope and the ground is beautiful out there. He disappointed us in Gowran the last day, but the ground was typical heavy Gowran ground. He won his maiden hurdle in Naas and then ran a nice race in Gowran. He was favourite there the last day, but just got stuck in it. I wasn't sure what way he'd go today, he had schooled great. It was just really to get his confidence back and give him something different to do. He was a bit guessy at a few. He has so much scope that he was kind of getting too brave. Two out he stood outside the wings and then he landed on his head. I'd say it knocked the stuffing out of him, he went from travelling really well to having to chase after him. He seems to handle that ground lovely, and country tracks, so we'll keep him on the go. He'll be a novice until November now. He won half a length there, so I suppose he (handicapper) can't be too hard on him. It was an ordinary race, although Clondaw Hollow had some good back form. Yeah, I suppose when she was 109 I felt there was a maiden hurdle in her. If we could go back, we would probably ride her very differently in a bumper. She always seemed like a filly that basically stays and it was only when we changed tactics with her in her maiden hurdles, when she was held up a bit, that she started finishing out her races better. I haven't got him all that long. We ran him for the first time since Dessie (McDonogh) retired in Clonmel, and he ran well. I met Julie (Thomas, owner) in Doncaster a few years ago and she breeds some top class horses in Newmarket. Her pedigrees are very good and she told me that this horse wasn't a commercial sales horse because he wasn't hugely big, so she offered me to get involved. We went from there and it is fantastic to get a winner with my first horse for Julie. To have an overseas owner having a winner in Ireland is fantastic. We'll keep him handicap hurdling now and we could look at a four-year-old handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe later this year.
