Formscan By Alan Magee - Pierre Lapin, CORDOUAN and Howyoulikethat flashed past the post almost in unison when filling the first three places over course and distance last month and there shouldn’t be much between the trio again. Pierre Lapin held a career high mark of 110 with Roger Varian but took advantage of a steady drop in the ratings this year to just get up on the line last time. The former John Gosden-trained Cordouan made a winning start for current connections at Laytown and may have the more scope for improvement following such a narrow defeat. Howyoulikethat took a significant hike for winning over this trip at Leopardstown in July but remains very competitive and didn’t enjoy the clearest of passages in the aforementioned race here. Freescape has a big weight but ran well in top company at Meydan in the spring.
