He was very keen and free, and he had only one run over hurdles. The track's undulations might not have been in his favour. They have done a great job on the track; it is watered and credit to them as it is as good as I've seen all over Ireland. We were happy to run him and take his chance. It all worked out well. He was a bit keen, but during the race Dan got him switched off. He was a bit novicey but, overall, you'd be very happy and he won well. There is only one winning post and it is fair stiff from the furlong (pole) home, you see an awful lot of results changing at Downpatrick and Galway and all those places with a stiff finish. She is a nice mare and to be fair, she should be unbeaten as I became greedy at the end of last season and ran her back quickly at the Punchestown bumper, where she was flat. We kept her for Galway, after she won so easily first time up, we just thought she was alright,. We had her in for a lot of last season but we kept her as a novice, we thought she was a bit better than the average novice. You won’t get too many Zaraks now for jumping bred mares, it’s nice to have a filly going jumping by him. She did it well and she’s one that we think a bit of. It’s a pity Rich and Susannah can’t be here. We’ll up her in grade as best we can. I’d probably be looking at her as a Royal Bond-type filly. We might just leave her now. We thought she had ability, we trained the half-sister and she won a maiden hurdle as well. I thought she’d probably learn a lot today. I suppose a couple of things fell right for her, it was a messy race but she still had to be very gutsy to go out and beat horses with more experience. I think that was the impressive part and we’re delighted with her. For a mare running her first ever race on the track to be that straightforward and not bat an eyelid, I think, was a great sign.
