Formscan By Tom Weekes - THE STORYTELLER has already proven himself a smart staying type and might be able to win this useful contest. He has shown up well on each of his four hurdle starts thus far and having chased home a subsequent Grade 2 runner-up at Punchestown in November, won his maiden hurdle very easily at Down Royal over Christmas. He looks a potentially smart staying horse. Battleford was a high class bumper performer and was much better than the selection in bumpers. He was an eye-catcher when staying on late on hurdles debut in November and while the step up in trip suited at Leopardstown over Christmas, his jumping technique was just ordinary. He needs to jump much better here but the further step up in trip could bring about more improvement. Electric Concorde did well to win on handicap hurdle debut, from 128, at Leopardstown over Christmas (Billy's Hope was in behind but is 5lbs better off now) and is a progressive type. He also stays well but isn’t helped by give away 5lbs here. Some Neck and Brightest Flame are each useful in their own right but might struggle to win this while Wishmoor has a low weight but might also struggle to win.
