Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - I put a ring around nine names when having a look at this last week and five of them remain in the final field, namely Bishopsfurze, Son Amix, Sole Witness, The Westener Boy and TOON RIVER. Firstly, seeing as Bishopsfurze is locally owned and trained, this likely has been in mind for some time. Can he concede weight all round though – it's a tough ask and he hardly represents much in the way of value from a betting point of view. Son Amix had been touted by some good judges for the Paddy Power, and after being forced to miss that big-money Christmas event, the grey comes here with a solid chance. I certainly wouldn't put anyone off investing in this fellow each-way. The Westener Boy, like Son Amix, makes his handicap bow now and he has a massive chance with Tony McCoy in the plate. It'll be mightily interesting to see how he goes in the betting. Sole Witness was good at Navan last time and he'll justifiably have plenty of followers with local lad Ben Dalton in the plate. Wily old fox, David Casey is no stranger to winning this south eastern highlight with successes on On His Own, Hedgehunter and This Is Serious already under his belt and the County Waterford native could make his presence felt in his neighbouring county again, aboard Toon River. Plenty of horses have triumphed in this exciting spectacle in the past, that had shown a liking for Gowran before that, and Toon River certainly has that string to his bow. In two visits here he's won a maiden hurdle and finished second to the very classy Aupcharlie. The prominent racer can give his backers – at fancy odds – a good run for their money.
