Permission was given for Gorey Gold (IRE), Dartrey (IRE) and Remi Mae (GB) to all wear a red hood to the start; for One And Gone (IRE) to go early wearing a red hood to the start.
Upon leaving the stalls One And Gone (IRE), placed third, jumped left-handed onto Augustus Gloop (GB), placed sixth, moving the colt towards Dartrey (IRE), placed fourth, who in turn was shifted onto Bassenthwaite (GB), unplaced.
This happened simultaneously to Rogue Supremacy (GB), unplaced, jumping right-handed leaving the stalls carrying Gorey Gold (IRE), unplaced, right-handed.
This resulted in Monarch's Gold (GB), placed fifth, to be short room between Bassenthwaite (GB) and Gorey Gold (IRE ) causing the colt to stumble.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of One And Gone (IRE).
Following the race, Rowan Scott reported that Monarch's Gold (GB), placed fifth, suffered interference at the start.
Hector Crouch reported that Bassenthwaite (GB), unplaced, weakened quickly inside the final furlong; the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race during routine testing and had nothing to report.
