The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the final fifty yards involving Go Out (FR), ridden by T. Casey, placed second, and Una Matata, ridden by S. Coen, placed third, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. T. Casey stated that his mount came over a little bit and that there was a little bump. S. Coen stated that felt that he was carried violently right from the one furlong marker to the winning post. He further stated that his mount became unbalanced fifty yards from the winning line and felt that it had cost him second place. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Go Out (FR) had caused interference to Una Matata, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings
They were, however, of the opinion that T. Casey, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard (third offence) they suspended him for eight racedays
S. Coen, rider of Una Matata, trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was interfered with from the one furlong pole to the winning line.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 0-60 Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
