The Raceday Stewards requested a report from James Andrew Fahey, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Hazelhatch Lady, placed first, as compared with its two previous runs when pulled up on both occasions
The trainer reported that his charge won an INHS Flat race at Wexford on 1st July 2022 and returned to run in a hurdle race at Fairyhouse 8th October 2022 where she pulled up. He added that no abnormality was found post race but she got a tendon injury after her next piece of work at home. She returned after a lay off to race at Wexford 21st June 2023 where she tracked the leaders before weakening and pulled up before the second last hurdle. He explained that she had worked poorly recently and today's win was a surprise but felt that making her own pace in the lead without being challenged until close to the finish probably contributed to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report.
