The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Spuddling (GB) compared with its previous run at Leicester on the 27 May 2025 where the gelding finished tenth of fifteen runners, beaten by 18 lengths, was considered.
Bill Turner’s explanation that Spuddling (GB) appeared to benefit from the step up in trip to 1 mile and 3 furlongs from 7 furlongs was noted.
Following the race, the Stewards noted that Spaceage Love Song (IRE), stumbled badly leaving the stalls and was subsequently pulled up by Callum Shepherd; the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race and found the gelding to be lame on its right-hind leg.
