THE DOWNLOAD THE AT THE RACES APP NURSERY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Lady Of Hay (GB), El Lambo (IRE), Alpha Legend (IRE) and Chianti (GB) to wear a red hood to post and for Mrs Mole (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and wear a red hood to post.
The raceday privilege request for Calef (IRE) trained by David O’Meara to wear a red hood to post was not submitted.
O’Meara was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.
An enquiry was held to consider interference leaving the back straight involving Chianti (GB), unplaced, ridden by Luke Morris and Tree Wizard (GB), placed second, ridden by Abdulla Rashid Al Hajri.
Morris was cautioned for careless riding as he moved his mount left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of a very free running Tree Wizard (GB), causing Al Hajri to steady his mount off heels.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching half a furlong out involving Chianti (GB), unplaced, ridden by Luke Morris, Tree Wizard (GB), placed second, ridden by Abdulla Rashid Al Hajri, Calef (IRE), placed third, ridden by David Nolan and Lady Of Hay (GB), unplaced, ridden by Jason Watson.
Al Hajri was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as despite having received some minor intimidation from Chianti (GB) on his outside approximately ¾ of a furlong out, which had lugged left- handed away from Calef (IRE) before being corrected by Morris, he failed to take sufficient steps to properly correct his mount from drifting left-handed whilst riding a finish, which resulted in Watson having to take a severe check against the rail when Lady Of Hay (GB) ran out of racing room.
Leaving the stalls, Time And Effort (GB), placed fourth, jumped slightly right-handed, giving a bump to C’EST LUI (IRE), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Time And Effort (GB).
Passing the half furlong marker, Time And Effort (GB), placed fourth, lugged slightly right-handed, bumping C’EST LUI (IRE), placed fifth, which was moved off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Time And Effort (GB).
Inside the final half furlong, the winner, El Lambo (IRE), lugged quickly left-handed, causing the rider of C’EST LUI (IRE), placed fifth, to take a slight check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of El Lambo (IRE).
On the run to the line, Tree Wizard (GB), placed second, shifted right-handed away from the whip before being corrected by its rider, at the same time as Calef (IRE), placed third, edged slightly left-handed, resulting in the rider of Chianti (GB), unplaced, having to take a precautionary check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Tree Wizard (GB).
The winner, El Lambo (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newbury on 26 August 2026 where the gelding finished thirteenth of fourteen runners, beaten by 33½ lengths.
Charles Hills’ representative’s explanation that the gelding had benefitted by being dropped back in trip from 7 furlongs to 5 furlongs, was noted.
El Lambo (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Robert Havlin reported that Alpha Legend (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run inside the final furlong.
