An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference from approaching the final furlong involving Manton Road (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Billy Loughnane and Herkeios (GB), placed third, ridden by Dylan Hogan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Herkeios (GB)’s placing as Manton Road (GB)'s racing manners were responsible for causing a lot of its own problems, by wanting to hang in behind Herkeios (GB).
The initial inference approximately one furlong out was found to be accidental as Manton Road (GB) hung badly left-handed at the same time as Herkeios (GB) itself was lugging slightly right-handed, resulting in Manton Road (GB) being hampered.
Again near the 1/2 furlong marker the interference was found to be accidental as Manton Road (GB) hung notably left-handed at the same time as Herkeios (GB) was lugging right-handed, resulting in Manton Road (GB) being impeded and on the run to the line Herkeios (GB) shifted slightly right-handed, briefly carrying Manton Road (GB) off its intended line.
Upon leaving the stalls, Unfortunate Heir (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly, hampering Manton Road (GB), placed fifth, causing the gelding to inconvenience Stay Around (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Shortly after leaving the stalls, Backer Bilk (GB), placed second, lugged sharply left-handed, bumping into Unfortunate Heir (GB), unplaced, which became badly unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Backer Bilk (GB).
Shortly after the start, Majestic Heights (IRE), unplaced, edged slightly left-handed, making contact with Latona (IRE), placed fourth, which in turn caused Zadkiel (IRE), unplaced, to be crowded for room and to be steadied by its rider, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Billy Loughnane reported that Manton Road (GB), placed fifth, hung left-handed.
