An enquiry was held into Paddy Bradley’s ride on the winner, Deluded (IRE), which was ridden with supreme confidence in the home straight and asked for minimal effort when in front, before ultimately being eased down over the concluding stages and only prevailing by a diminishing head margin.
Bradley explained that he travelled into the race very strongly and easily went past the eventual second Stepinmydirection (IRE) off the home bend and formed the view that he comfortably had the measure of all horses to his inside.
Bradley continued by saying that he therefore expected any potential dangers would be coming down his outer, for which he was checking over his right shoulder late on and as a result had been caught unaware until the final stride that Stepinmydirection (IRE) had rallied strongly and was closing him down on the run to the line.
Bradley’s explanation was noted, however he was nonetheless reminded of his responsibility to ensure that he rides his mount out fully to the finish line.
Following the race, Hollie Doyle reported that Madame Koko (GB), placed fourth, hung right-handed; William Cox reported that Shabti (GB), unplaced, was slowly away and Darragh Keenan reported that We Ride At Dawn (GB), unplaced, ran very greenly early and attempted to bronc for a short distance after leaving the stalls.
