THE DARLEY EBF MAIDEN FILLIES' STAKES (CLASS 2) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for Aunt Roberta (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Chimes Of Thunder (GER) wore ear plugs which were removed upon arrival at the start.
Two and a half furlongs out, Tropical Sands (GB), placed fifth, shifted left-handed, away from the whip before being corrected, at the same time as Mathoura (IRE), placed fourth, edged slightly right- handed, which resulted in Queen Of Scotland (GB), placed second, becoming short of room and the rider having to check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Tropical Sands (GB), which started favourite and finished fifth of eight runners, beaten by 17¾ lengths was considered.
The representative Ed Walker’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the going, officially described as Soft and Tropical Sands (GB) may appreciate a firmer surface, was noted.
The performance of Evening Call (GB), which finished last of eight runners, beaten by 39 lengths, was considered.
The representative William Haggas’ explanation that the filly was unsuited by the going, officially described as Soft and Evening Call (GB) may appreciate a firmer surface, was noted.
