An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference between the 5 and 4 furlong markers involving Lady Margret (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Jack Doughty, My Boy Jack (GB), unplaced, ridden by Joanna Mason, and Woodrafff (GB), placed third, ridden by James Sullivan.
David Nolan, the rider of the winner, Operation Gimcrack (IRE), was also interviewed but found not to be involved.
In the first incident, the interference was found to be accidental in that Lady Margret (IRE) stepped left-handed in a tightly bunched field causing a free-running Woodrafff (GB) to clip a heel and stumble.
In the second incident, Doughty was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear causing My Boy Jack (GB) to become short of room and unbalanced against the rail resulting in Mason subsequently having to take a check on the gelding.
Following the race, Joanna Mason reported that My Boy Jack (GB), unplaced, suffered interference between the 5 and 4 furlong marker.
