Permission was given for Mister Sandman (GB) to go to post early wearing a red hood and for Chasing Gold (GB), Analytical Engine (GB) and Purpendicular (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Leaving the stalls, Mintana (GB), unplaced, jumped right-handed and as a result carried Up The Monk (GB), unplaced, Mister Sandman (GB), placed fourth and Purpendicular (GB), unplaced, off their intended lines, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Mister Sandman (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Tom Queally and Purpendicular (GB), unplaced, ridden by Sean Dylan Bowen.
The Stewards deemed the interference to be accidental as after initially receiving a bump after the start, Mister Sandman (GB) proceeded to lock on to the bridle and edged slightly right-handed, resulting in Purpendicular (GB) clipping a heel.
Following the race, Tom Queally reported that Mister Sandman (GB), placed fourth, ran too free and Oliver Searle reported that Miss Moonshine (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly.
