THE VIRGIN BET SCOTTISH SPRINT CUP HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) Permission was given for Archduke Ferdinand (IRE) and Vintage Clarets (GB) to go early to post, for Democracy Dilemma (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood and for Rhythm N Hooves (GB) and Canon's House (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Leaving the stalls, Archduke Ferdinand (IRE), unplaced, jumped right-handed, which moved Canon's House (GB), placed sixth, off its intended line, which then in turn caused Vintage Clarets (GB), unplaced, and Jer Batt (IRE), unplaced, to be shifted right-handed, further causing Tropical Storm (GB) , unplaced, to become short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong, involving Lexington Blitz (IRE), placed third, ridden by Callum Shepherd and Rhythm N Hooves (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Jason Hart.
Shepherd was cautioned for careless riding as he failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his mount from shifting left-handed, causing Hart to take a check.
The performance of Democracy Dilemma (IRE), which finished unplaced, was considered.
Robert Cowell’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the going described as Soft on this occasion, having shown all of its best recent form on a quicker surface, was noted.
Following the race, Oisin Murphy reported that Tropical Storm (GB), unplaced, suffered interference shortly after the start.
Saffie Osborne reported that Jer Batt (IRE), unplaced, was hampered leaving the stalls.
