The Veterinary Officer reported that Willem Twee (GB), trained by James Fanshawe, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance, with a lump present in the region of the left jugular vein.
The Trainer and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
James Fanshawe explained that the gelding had been administered Duphalyte intravenously and HY-50 the previous day on 7 March 2025, during evening stables which was verified from the Veterinary Practice, Newmarket Equine Hospital.
Being satisfied that Willem Twee (GB) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed the horse to run and ordered Willem Twee (GB) to be routine tested post-race.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong between Al Shabab Storm (GB), placed third, ridden by Marco Ghiani and Jabaara (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Jack Mitchell.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Al Shabab Storm (GB)’s placing as Jabaara (IRE) was only making up ground slowly prior to being checked in its run approximately ½ a furlong out.
The Stewards were satisfied that Jabaara (IRE) would not have finished in front of Al Shabab Storm (GB), if it had been afforded an uninterrupted passage to the line, given the margin of 1¼ lengths between the two horses at the finish and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Al Shabab Storm (GB) hung slightly left- handed off its intended line, despite Ghiani’s best efforts to keep the gelding straight.
