Permission was given for Atomic Force (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood, for Grandlad (IRE) to go early to post and to be mounted on the chute, for Vintage Clarets (GB) to be mounted on the chute and for Clearpoint (GB), RUBY’S PROFIT (IRE), Rhythm N Hooves (GB) and Solar Edge (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Rounding the bend leaving the back straight, Rhythm N Hooves (GB), placed second, lugged in towards the rail causing Arctic Summer (GB), unplaced, to become momentarily short of room.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Rhythm N Hooves (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 ½ furlongs out involving Bang On The Bell (GB), unplaced, ridden by John Egan, Blue Storm (GB), unplaced, ridden by Finley Marsh and Vintage Clarets (GB), unplaced, ridden by Jack Garritty.
The interference was found to be accidental as rounding the bend the pace slowed markedly, causing Blue Storm (GB) to grab hold of the bridle and to run into an insufficient gap between Bang On The Bell (GB), which was hanging badly right-handed, and Vintage Clarets (GB), which remained on its line one off the rail, resulting in Blue Storm (GB) being checked, clipping a heel and losing all momentum.
Following the race, John Egan reported that Bang On The Bell (GB), unplaced, hung badly right-handed on the bend.
