THE HEATHER SMALL PLAYS LEICESTER RACES 4TH JULY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Call Glory (IRE) and Fenlander (GB) to wear a red hood to post, and Fenlander (GB) to go to post early.
Leaving the stalls, Tex (IRE), placed second, reared and jumped left-handed, making contact with and moving Al Hofzan (IRE), placed fourth, off its intended line.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Tex (FR).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line, involving the winner Zubaru (GB), ridden by Darragh Keenan, Call Glory (IRE), placed third, ridden by Ryan Kavanagh and Al Hofzan (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Gina Mangan.
The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental and had not improved the placing of Zubaru (GB) as Call Glory (IRE) had shifted left-handed before being corrected, at the same time as Zubaru (GB) moved slightly right-handed causing the rider of Al Hofzan (IRE) to take a precautionary check.
The Stewards could not be satisfied on the balance of probabilities that had the interference not occurred, that Call Glory (IRE) would have finished in front of Al Hofzan (IRE) and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
