The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages, involving Hotazhell (GB), ridden by S. Foley, placed second and Geryon, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed third, where it appeared that interference occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. Foley stated that his mount ran around up the straight, ducked and interfered with Hotazhell, which he immediately attempted to correct. He further added that he felt he would have won the race if his mount had ran straight. C.T. Keane stated that he received contact from Hotazhell and felt he would have won the race if he had not received interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Hotazhell had caused interference to Geryon and as a result of this interference had improved it’s finishing position. As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards reversed the placings of the second and third placed Horses and amended the result to read as follows: First: Isaac Newton Second: Geryon Third: Hotazhell (GB) Fourth: Wemightakedlongway Fifth: Flushing Meadows Sixth: Hazdann Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that no riding offence had occurred and that no further action was warranted
S. Foley, rider of Hotazhell (GB), trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran around up the home straight
C.D. Hayes, rider of Hazdann, trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran keen early on, caught a heel and stumbled. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from A.P.O'Brien, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Isaac Newton, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Mr. C. Armstrong the Authorised Representative for A.P. O'Brien, stated that the drop back in trip, ease in the ground and a patient ride from the jockey may have brought about the apparent improvement in form today. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the content.
