The Veterinary Officer reported that Mister Snowdon (GB), trained by Richard Hughes, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance, with dried blood present in the region of the left jugular vein.
The Trainer’s representative and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
Hughes’ representative explained that the gelding had been administered Hyonate intravenously the previous day on 9 September 2020, during evening stables.
The Stewards were supplied with a copy of the yards medical treatment records book verifying this to be factual.
The explanation of Hughes' representative was noted and being satisfied that Mister Snowdon (GB) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed the horse to run, and ordered that the gelding be routine tested post-race.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Permission was given for both Happy Bere (FR) and Mister Snowdon (GB) to wear hoods in the Parade Ring only and for Haqeeqy (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
The performance of Eastern World (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
Charlie Appleby’s representative could offer no explanation for the colt’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Eastern World (IRE) during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Paddy Mathers reported that National League (IRE), placed third, was denied a clear run on several occasions inside the final 1½ furlongs.
