THE CONNEXIN SUPER FAST SPRINT HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Call To Action (IRE) to wear a red hood to post, for Holbache (GB) to go early to post wearing a red hood, for Good Earth (IRE) to go early to post and for Infinity Blue (IRE) to be led to post early.
Tom Eaves, the rider of Good Earth, drawn 9, appeared to be slightly slow to remove the blindfold.
Being satisfied that his horse jumped on terms with the other runners, no further action was taken.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out involving Castan (GB), placed third, ridden by Paul Mulrennan, Call To Action (IRE), placed second, ridden by Joanna Mason, and Good Earth (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Tom Eaves and Opal Storm (GB), unplaced, ridden by Faye McManoman.
Mulrennan was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he switched his mount left-handed when insufficiently clear of Call To Action (IRE) taking that gelding off its intended line, which in turn briefly hampered Good Earth (IRE) and resulted in that gelding moving Opal Storm (GB) off its intended line.
Following the race, David Nolan reported that Ventura Express (GB), placed fifth, anticipated the start and was slowly away as a result.
