uk HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Bernard Llewellyn had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run King Of The Dance (IRE) partially shod.
Leaving the stalls, Weston Court (IRE), placed fourth, jumped left-handed at the same time as Autumn Angel (IRE), unplaced, jumped right-handed causing Green Icon (FR), unplaced, to be short for room and slowly into stride.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Weston Court (IRE).
Finley Marsh, the rider of Ten Club (IRE) had fallen and Alexandra Egan, the rider of King Of The Dance (IRE) was unseated approaching the four-furlong marker.
Marsh; Rossa Ryan, the rider of Autumn Angel (IRE), unplaced; Ashley Lewis, the rider of the winner, Too Much Trevor (GB), were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident; Egan was interviewed via telephone.
Charlie Tucker, the rider of Scarfo (IRE), placed second, was also interviewed but found not to be involved.
It was found that the incident was accidental and was caused when the keen running Autumn Angel (IRE) moved marginally right-handed off the heels of Romanovich (IRE), unplaced, which in turn moved Too Much Trevor (GB) slightly right-handed, and resulted in the free running Ten Club (IRE) clipping the heels of Scarfo (IRE) and falling, furthermore causing King Of The Dance (IRE) to stumble and unseat Egan.
The performance of Autumn Angel (IRE), which started favourite and finished eighth of ten, beaten 7 ½ lengths, was considered.
The representative of Tony Carroll confirmed the report from Rossa Ryan that Autumn Angel ran too free, and his explanation that the mare was unsuited by the ground described as Good to Firm on this occasion, was noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Poet (GB), unplaced, lost its left-fore shoe and that Romanovich (IRE), unplaced, was struck into on its right-hind and lost its right-hind shoe.
