Permission was given for both Diddy Man (GB) and for Lesrico (GB) to wear red hoods to post.
Approaching the bend, turning into the home straight, Lesrico (GB), unplaced, edged marginally left-handed moving the winner, Jez Bomb (GB), slightly off its intended line, which resulted in Flag Of Love (IRE), placed fifth, becoming momentarily crowded for room against the rail and the rider having to take a check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Jez Bomb (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after two incidents of interference approaching the half furlong marker then on the run to the line, involving the winner, Jez Bomb (GB), ridden by Shane Gray and Diddy Man (GB), placed second, ridden by Paul Mulrennan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Jez Bomb (GB)’s placing as Diddy Man (GB) had appeared to lose no momentum and Mulrennan never having to stop riding.
The Stewards further considered that Jez Bomb (GB) always appeared to be holding Diddy Man (GB), with the winning distance being a neck at the line.
The first incident of interference was found to be accidental as Jez Bomb (GB) had edged quickly right-handed giving a slight bump to Diddy Man (GB).
In the second incident, Gray was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed, without sufficient correction, intimidating Diddy Man (GB) slightly off its intended line.
Following the race, Sean Kirrane reported that Flag Of Love (IRE), placed fifth, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Lockdown Lass (GB), unplaced, had lost its right-fore shoe.
