Permission was given for Monticristo Boy (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start and Without Flaw (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
Approximately 1½ furlongs out, the winner, Without Flaw (IRE), lugged quickly right-handed despite its rider's best efforts to correct the filly, taking Araifjan (GB), placed fourth, off its intended line and causing the rider of Latin Five (IRE), placed third, to have to momentarily ease, Ifonlytheycudtalk (IRE), unplaced, to be taken off its intended line and its rider to have to ease and Sir Benedict (IRE), unplaced, to be taken off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Without Flaw (IRE).
Following the race, Alex Jary reported that Monticristo Boy (IRE), unplaced, slipped leaving the stalls and was slowly away as a result; John Egan reported that Captain Bentley (GB), unplaced, hung right- handed throughout; Shane Gray reported that Sir Benedict (IRE), unplaced, stumbled approximately 3 furlongs out and was denied a clear run approximately 1½ furlongs out and David Nolan reported that Latin Five (IRE), placed third, was denied a clear run from 1½ furlongs out to the final furlong marker.
