Permission was given for LESLEY’S BOY to go early to post and for ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving, the winner, MARK’S CHOICE (IRE), ridden by Sam James, Woodstock (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Hart and Kats Bob (GB), placed third, ridden by William Pyle.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of MARK’S CHOICE (IRE) as although Woodstock (GB) had received a bump from Kats Bob (GB), which had been moved off its intended line from MARK’S CHOICE, Hart never had to stop riding and MARK’S CHOICE won going away to win by a head.
James was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed when insufficiently clear of Kats Bob (GB) moving the gelding slightly off its intended line, which in turn gave Woodstock (GB) a bump approaching the line.
The winner, MARK’S CHOICE (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 1 August 2025 where the gelding finished ninth of ten runners, beaten 12 ¾ lengths.
Gemma Tutty’s explanation that the gelding had won at Ripon on numerous occasions and benefited from the return to turf, was noted.
MARK’S CHOICE was routine tested.
Following the race, Dylan Hogan reported that Raffles Angel (GB), unplaced, suffered interference leaving the stalls; David Allan reported that COUNT D’ORSAY (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run 1 ½ furlongs out.
