A query was raised as to why Alistair Ralph was running Kalnoo (IRE) here at Worcester on going described as Good, having declared the mare a non-runner at Worcester on 15 June 2023 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that in his opinion, the ground was riding easier than described after recent rain fall.
Rounding the bend going out onto the final circuit, Kapitaliste (FR), which was pulled up, ran onto the heels of Fabrique En France (FR), unplaced, causing its rider to take a check which resulted in Our Dylan (IRE), unplaced, receiving a bump and Kalnoo (IRE), placed fifth, and Stripe Of Honour (IRE), which was pulled up, being hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approaching the final hurdle, Never No Trouble (GB), placed second, drifted quickly right-handed away from the whip before being quickly corrected causing it to bump Stiletto (GB), placed fourth, which in turn gave a bump to the winner, Best Mate Dave (GB).
Having received pressure Best Mate Dave (GB) continued to lean left-handed despite the best efforts of its rider, further hampering Stiletto (GB), but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Never No Trouble (GB).
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Best Mate Dave (GB) which had never previously been placed, was considered.
D J Jeffreys explained that Best Mate Dave (GB) had improved with time.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, James Best reported that Stripe Of Honour (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling.
