An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Vin Rouge (IRE), which was later pulled up, ridden by George Downing; Alex The Great (IRE), placed third, ridden by Jack Doughty and Toby Tops (GB), unplaced, ridden by George Wood.
Robert Havlin, rider of The Colorist (GB), unplaced, was interviewed and found not to be involved.
The Stewards found the interference to be accidental as the free running Alex The Great (IRE) had to be switched off the heels of Vin Rouge (IRE), who was being restrained off the slow early pace, resulting in Toby Tops (GB) clipping heels and stumbling slightly.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 ½ furlongs out involving the winner, Further Measure (USA), ridden by Sean Dylan Bowen; Alex The Great (IRE), placed third, ridden by Jack Doughty; The Colorist (GB), unplaced, ridden by Robert Havlin and Toby Tops (GB), unplaced, ridden by George Wood.
Bowen was suspended for 4 days for improper riding as he maneuvered his mount left-handed for a run when insufficiently clear of Toby Tops (GB), when it ought to have been obvious that in doing so interference would take place, giving a slight bump and moving that gelding onto Alex The Great (IRE), who in turn was carried further left making contact with and turning the quarters of The Colorist (GB).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Vin Rouge (IRE), which was pulled up, had bled from the nose.
