Pop Dancer (IRE), trained by Tony Carroll, had arrived in the Parade Ring without sheepskin cheekpieces, which were then located and fitted on the gelding before going to the start.
Approaching the final furlong, Batchelor Boy (IRE), placed fourth, shifted left-handed at the same time as the winner, Faustus (GB), shifted right-handed causing the rider of Cinque Verde (GB), unplaced, to momentarily ease, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of CROW’S NEST (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
Geroge Boughey’s explanation that the gelding was slowly away and never travelled thereafter and was also unsuited by the sharp, undulating nature of the track over the distance of five furlongs was noted.
CROW’S NEST (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Alistair Rawlinson reported that Bezzas Lad (IRE), placed third, hung right-handed.
