Formscan By Donal Murphy - The first five home from twelve months ago are back again, with Castlegrace Paddy, Hell's Kitchen, Saint Calvados and Sceau Royal the new names in the mix. Of course ALTIOR came out on top last year, and it's difficult to look beyond him now. Successful on his last seventeen starts, the nine-year-old is bidding for his fourth straight success at the Festival. He has already won three times this season, and looked as good as ever at Sandown, Kempton and Ascot. Min has also been excellent so far this campaign, winning Grade 1's at Punchestown and Leopardstown respectively. He was seven lengths second to Altior here twelve months ago, and it's difficult to see why he should reverse the form now. Saint Calvados and Sceau Royal both appear to have each-way claims, while it'll be interesting to see how Castlegrace Paddy fares. He put in an excellent performance to win the Hilly Way at Cork in December, and he might be able to make his presence felt here. The admirable God's Own is another worth a mention. He is running in this race for the fourth year in-a-row, and was a good third last year when sent off at 40/1.
For 5yo+ who are allotted a rating of 130 or more by the BHA Head of Handicapping following a review of the horses entered and after taking account of races run up to and including the day prior to confirmation - horses who are not qualified for a rating in Great Britain, Ireland or France may also be entered & such horses may be eligible providing the Handicapper is satisfied that the horse's racecourse performances up to and including the day prior to confirmation would merit a minimum rating of 130 (the decision of the BHA Head of Handicapping shall be final).
