Formscan By Donal Murphy - The Coral Cup is a notoriously competitive contest, and this year is no exception. Half of the twenty-six set to take part are trained here in Ireland, with Willie Mullins responsible for six. For a selection I'll side with VISION DES FLOS. The son of Balko has been competing at a higher level in his career to date, and makes his debut in handicap company now. He finished just two lengths off Buveur D'air at Sandown last month, and was last seen winning the National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell. Lil Rockfeller finished third in that Fontwell Grade 2, and he is another with solid claims. An excellent second in the Stayers Hurdle at the Festival in 2017, he has won three times over fences this season, and was far from disgraced when fifth to Paisley Park on his return to flights over the course in January. Top-weight Wicklow Brave won the County Hurdle in 2015, and was also successful at the highest level both over flights and on the level. He finished a fine second on his most recent start at Naas in January, and it would come as no surprise if he was to go one place better now with Patrick Mullins in the saddle. Scarpeta, Uradel, Calie Du Mesnil, Bleu Berry and Killutagh Vic complete the Willie Mullins team, and none of these can be safely ruled out. The Henry de Bromhead trained Dancing On My Own is an interesting contender with Rachael Blackmore booked to ride, while others to consider are Apple's Shakira, Erick La Rouge, Canardier, Ballyandy and Brio Conte.
