I had him in the 1m2f handicap today but lately he’s been jumping (from stalls) so slowly and travelling very lethargically early in his races. I’ve had to change his whole training regime and now he does a lot of his work on his own. We sent him off to our second gallop, which is five furlongs round, which he canters around and then breezes up the hill. He also leads the two-year-olds sometimes or works with something he can beat, which he seems to be absolutely delighted about - you can see him laughing at them! . I wondered would he get today’s 1m6f trip but he did and Colin said he’d probably get two miles, but that you’d have to play with him. We’ll trick along and I think I’ll keep him at longer trips. He's been a great horse but unfortunately his owner Paul (Hunt) died a couple of years ago so he runs in his wife Patricia’s name. We had a good few horses for the family but we’ve only two left now, this fella and Tell Nobody Nothin.

I’d love to know where this improvement has come from, Ben says the ground is key to her,. She showed it here one night when Yudish rode her, on soft ground she really comes strong. She had been training really well, all the horses are going well. I thought she’d be very competitive here today but that was a very good performance. I was a bit worried where he was early on but he got a beautiful gap up the inside and she quickened up really well. I’m delighted, they are a great bunch of people. Vince O’Driscoll is after travelling over from America and the pressure is always on when he travels!. I don’t think there is anything left for her, she’s been busy. I thought today would tell us if she’d come back next year. She should, she’d going out on a high now. She’s a remarkable filly. She’s tough and hardy and works well every day. Every time I worked him at home last year, he worked better every day,. He is just improving with racing. He was very free early on, but Billy got him settled in behind. He said once he got a bit of cover, he settled lovely. He was doing a half-speed into the dip. When you look at the head-on, you'd say he had no chance coming through that wall of horses. Billy said he had so much horse underneath him, he was just waiting for an opening. As soon as it opened, he was gone through them. . A great sign of a horse is what he did after the line, he couldn't pull him up. That to me showed me that there is huge improvement there. He has plenty of speed, you saw that last year. What he also has now is stamina. With the two of them, we have a proper racehorse. He'll be out of handicaps now, so we'll look at Listed or group races.

That was lovely. She’s my first runner for Giampiero Vellucci so I’m delighted. He was just on there and he’s absolutely thrilled. He’s a solicitor in Italy. She’s a big weak filly and the more time we gave her, the more she has strengthened up. She has always shown ability. I was a bit worried that the track here might be a bit tight for her. She was on the front end and Billy dictated. I thought he got it spot on. She met a bit of trouble the last day, but I think she was a bit weak and was wandering. Today, she had her ears pricked everywhere and was enjoying it. She’s not really a handicap-type filly. We’ll try and snatch a bit of black type with her. She’s a big filly and I don’t think she’ll suit handicaps, she’s not mentally there yet. Smaller fields will suit her.
