The nine-year-old ran well to finish fourth at the Curragh last time and has eased another couple of pounds since. Reese Holohan also takes 5lb off his back now. Tariff comes here in fine form and has to be respected. In contrast though he is rising in the weights as a result of his success. La Tulipe Noir was fourth behind Tariff in the Curragh last time and could be a big player now on revised terms.

It was well deserved, he’s an honest horse and he tries every time,. He’s obviously not as good as he was in his younger days but still he’s a nice fun horse. He’s often in the money. Wayne said they went a good lick today. We said we’d ride him from the middle, we didn’t want to make the pace as sometimes he might do a bit too much in front. We said we’d switch him off a bit and it worked out grand. A strong pace over seven suited him perfectly. It’s a lovely place to get a winner, we’ve had a few winners up here. He ran well in a big handicap here a year-and-a-half ago. We’ll see what the handicapper does and we might come back here again.

We had no luck with her at the beginning, we did various different things, and then we got Seamie Heffernan to ride her five times and she hit the crossbar a few times,. Seamie would come in and say ‘this one will win a race’. We bought her because Jessica’s father Tony is a friend of mine, and he works for me. We bought her originally because Jessica got her Flat licence but she just wasn’t doing what we’d like so we got Seamie then and in fairness to him he got off her the last time he rode and said this mare will win. Sometimes you don’t believe it, you think this is a jockey telling me a story, but she did turn up for Jessica the last day. He said maybe we should take advantage of the 7lb so we did the last day. Jessica is riding great. I said to her if she could take up the running and slow it down but she said that there were two horses in it that were runaways. She said she’d sit in. She’s still very young and hasn’t a pile of riding done but she was very clever there. She’s very good, she has a lovely feel for horses. I’m surprised she isn’t getting more spins. We only have five horses and they’ve all won. We’ve no serious horses but we do it for ourselves, which is better again.

He was tough. I thought yesterday might have taken the shine off him a bit but we took him out for a pick of grass this morning and he was good and well in himself,. He jumped and travelled, which is something he doesn’t usually do. He toughed it out well. Hopefully he can progress a bit more next year as a four-year-old. There is a race in Galway for him next week but he’s after having two hard races and Thurles was a tough race too. He’s still only a whippet of a horse so we might give him a bit of time. We’ll see how he comes out of it.

Yeah it was fantastic,. He toughed it out well there. I knew he came out of the Listowel race well. He is an easy horse to train and I'm delighted for everyone involved. Billy said he won a bit snugly in Listowel. He was pulling up a bit at the line. He couldn't do that today though. He really had to knuckle down. We bought him in the July Sales two years ago on the back of being a half-brother to Inventor. We got him home, looked at him and liked him. A few of the lads got involved and we kept a share ourselves. I'm delighted.

He's a different horse this year, he's a much stronger horse. He's a different animal altogether. He chipped a bone in his knee, and we sent him up to the vet Eric Smith in Armagh and whatever he says, I would believe. He's called Micasso because the man (Michael Keogh) who bred him likes to paint!. He had a good run in Cork last year and we ran him again afterwards in Dundalk when we were trying to put another winner in Colin's (Keane) list. In actual fact, I think he burst. He had finished for the year at that stage. Seamie and I have been playing around for years, this is a hobby for me. This is our first winner together. As he said, he is riding in the German Derby on Sunday, and he just wanted a bit of confidence! He has it now!
