The Raceday Stewards interviewed Sam Ewing, rider of Jazz De Cotte (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Sam Ewing was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his clean record in this regard, they suspended him for three racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the bend approaching the last hurdle involving Jazz De Cotte (FR), ridden by Sam Ewing, placed second, The Cistercian, ridden by R.A. Berry, unseated, and Welcome Back, ridden by J.C. Gainford, unplaced, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R.A. Berry stated that he received contact from his inside and his mount ran around
J.C. Gainford stated that he received minor contact but his mount overexaggerated. Sam Ewing stated that a gap opened as the horse on his outside was tiring. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
