The veteran gelding has spent most of his career on the flat but has failed to add to two wins gained back in 2012 including one at this venue. In comparison, the Ger Keane-trained 11-year-old has been lightly campaigned over hurdles and was having his first race over flights in two years when third to Copy Print in a similar event at Thurles last November. The selection should be spot on after a couple of decent runs on the flat, and is a proven performer with cut in the ground. Spring Forard looks the chief threat. The Oscar gelding didn’t make his debut until just over six months ago but has been competitive since switched to handicaps including when third to Luckyinmilan at Gowran Park. Mark McNiff is always to be feared at his local track, and Navan flat winner Mr Moondance should progress from his first handicap hurdle at Down Royal earlier this month if learning to settle.
