Formscan By Donal Murphy - The Festival curtain raiser has a much more open feel with the late defection of Envoi Allen. Willie Mullins has won it four times in the last seven years and his Asterion Forlonge appears a serious contender after impressive wins at Naas and Leopardstown respectively. Captain Guinness and Abracadabras are other leading Irish hopes, with the former on many shortlists. He was too keen on what was just his second start at Punchestown in January, going down narrowly to Andy Dufresne. The son of Arakan should come on plenty for that experience and it'll come as little surprise if he manages to go one place better here. For a selection I'll side with CHANTRY HOUSE, one of three Nicky Henderson trained participants in the line-up. A point-to-point winner for Cian Hughes, the Yeats gelding has been flawless in three track starts since, quickening away from his rivals in the manner of a smart horse at Newbury on his latest start. Henderson also has a leading contender in the shape of Shishkin. Another to win a point-to-point, he has impressed in three of his four outings since and it'll be disappointing if he is not involved towards the business end here. Fiddlerontheroof also warrants the utmost respect after easily winning the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown in early January.
