Formscan By Tom Weekes - The old 'four-miler' is now the less catchy '3m5f 201yards-er' and CAREFULLY SELECTED can prove best as a proven high class stayer on soft ground. He stands out as a real staying chaser but it is certainly worth remembering his second place finish to Relegate in the 2018 Festival Bumper and while his jumping was poor when winning at Naas on his most recent start, he nonetheless eked out his win and it was at least reassuring to see Spyglass Hill, which was in contention when falling at the second last, easily win his next start. He steps up to this extreme trip for the first time and while another concern is his propensity for a jumping error, he will appreciate soft ground today and looks progressive enough to win. Lord Du Mesnil would relish a filthy slog on heavy ground and is the top rated runner at 153. He is nowhere near as classy as CAREFULLY SELECTED but has progressed tremendously well on his most recent starts in staying handicap chases and comes here a proven type on these conditions but nonetheless has never won at Graded level, in contrast to the Grade 1 winning selection. Newtide was the fortunate winner of a Grade 2 at Wetherby last month and while he is proven on testing ground over staying trips, might bump into a few too strong today. Ravenhill is a left field contender, in that he is a 10yo who is best associated with summer racing. He filled fifth in the Galway Plate before finishing a fine second in last September's Kerry National (the chase course then was 'yielding') and while he comes here as an experienced handicapper, he would prefer a much sounder surface.%0A
