Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - His tendency to jump a bit to the right, and the fizz he displayed pre-race at the Dublin Racing Festival, has me against Notebook. He’s a smashing sort but perhaps one to take on being market-leader, and the one he beat at Leopardstown on St Stephen’s Day, FAKIR D'OUDAIRIES, will do for me. The selection missed out on a re-match, owing to the ground, at the start of February, and the fact that Mark Walsh was briefly without an iron early in the straight when coming with his effort between horses at Christmas, was no help to his prospects then. Notebook was still a good winner on that occasion, and it won’t be easy for Fakir D’Oudairies to turn the tables. Joseph O’Brien’s charge is a course winner over hurdles though, and a fabulous jumper that’ll have no issue with testing terrain. The fact that he stays two and a half miles is another plus in the column of the J P McManus hope. You only have to glance at the betting to see that it’s open enough, only Our Merlin looking to be out of it.

Such horses may be eligible providing the Handicapper is satisfied that the horse's racecourse performances up to and including the day prior to confirmation would merit a minimum rating of 120.
