Formscan By Alan Magee - LALOR gets the vote. He made a highly impressive start over fences when landing a Grade 2 event over this course and distance on his reappearance back in November. The form of that race has substance beating Dynamite Dollars by seven lengths, with Defi Du Seuil well held. The selection didn’t back that up in the Grade 1 Henry VIII at Sandown (won by Dynamite Dollars, with Ornua making a bold bid from the front finishing second) three weeks later with connections blaming the soft ground. However that doesn’t really wash with me as he’d won on heavy over hurdles and also took a Grade 1 novice at Aintree on soft. Perhaps he just bounced on his second run after a break, and the fact that he comes here fresh without a run since can be seen as a plus. Glen Forza handles soft ground well and impressively completed a hat-trick when making all to readily beat Kalashnikov in the rearranged Kingmaker at Sandown last month.
For novice 5-y-o & upwards rated 120 or more. Horses who are not qualified for a rating in Great Britain, Ireland or France may also be entered. Such horses may be eligible providing the Handicapper is satisfied that the horse's racecourse performances up to and including the day prior to confirmation would merit a minimum rating of 120.
