He's a great old horse, and he's two for two in Laytown and we would like to go back and see if we could do three for three. It was a good pot and a good race. Five (furlongs) just depends on the pace, he does roll home well. He's in great nick and he is really, really well. We were going to run him over six last week and my brother Ed was the instigator of waiting - I'm glad we did now. I don't know what the plan is, that was the thoughts up to here. It was a good performance. David Marnane, trainer
L.T. McAteer, rider of Jered Maddox (GB), trained by David Marnane, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a bump a furlong and a half down
S. Foley, rider of Beauty Queen, trained by Gerard O'Leary, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stumbled out of the gates
R.P. Whelan, rider of Dontspoilasale, trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right under pressure
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Sporting Hero (GB), ridden by D.J
O'Connor, placed second, Jered Maddox (GB), ridden by L.T. McAteer, placed first, and Beauty Queen, ridden by S. Foley, placed third, where it appeared the three horses came close together. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. Foley stated that he was caught up on heels for a stride as the horse in front of him drifted right. L.T
McAteer stated that his mount was already in the gap and couldn't take back. D.J. O'Connor stated that as soon as he saw Jered Maddox he corrected his mount immediately. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found D.J. O'Connor was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays. D.J. O'Connor was accompanied by Kevin Borthwick at this enquiry
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Dontspoilasale, ridden by R.P
Whelan, unplaced, Crystal Luna, ridden by Nicola Burns, unseated rider, and Hero Of The Hour (GB), ridden by R. Whearty, placed fifth, where it appeared Crystal Luna clipped a heel and unseated the rider. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Nicola Burns stated that there was a gap there and she let a shout as it started to close
She further added that she was squeezed out and clipped a heel. R. Whearty stated that he heard a shout so he left room and then received a bump after that. He further added he kept a straight line and didn't cause any interference
R.P. Whelan stated that his mount was hanging right and he heard a lot of shouting from his inside so he maneuvered to the right. He further added he was aware of the horse on his outside but did not know Crystal Luna was there also. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found R.P. Whelan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for eight racedays. Nicola Burns was accompanied by Kevin Borthwick at this enquiry. Mr. F. Cahill recused himself from this enquiry and Mr. P. Stewart acted as Chairman.
