The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr. Paul Harrison the Authorised Representative of Peter Fahey, trainer, for failing to nominate a rider within the required timeframe in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 3
Evidence was heard from Mr Paul Harrison who stated that he was uncertain that Miss J. Townend was available to take the ride until after the deadline had passed. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards reminded Mr Peter Fahey through his representative of his obligations in relation to Regulation 3
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident at the top of the straight involving Jury Time, ridden by Mr D
Doyle, placed third, Never Late, ridden by Mr A.D. Bustin, placed first, and Walking Saint (GB), ridden by Mr B.T. Stone, placed fifth, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr D. Doyle stated that he received a bump from Never Late on the hind quarters and that there was only room for half a horse in the gap that Mr A.D. Bustin went for. Mr A.D. Bustin stated that he felt that the gap was there and had the horse to go for it. Mr B.T. Stone stated that he received no contact and maintained a straight line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found Mr A.D
Bustin was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident on the bend into the back straight involving Lady Hotham (GB), ridden by Mr R.M. McParland, where it appeared the rider had to take a check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
