Owing to the low lying sun, the Raceday Stewards granted permission for hurdle No.4 to be omitted for this race
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding the omission of Hurdle number 3 in this race
Evidence was heard from Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Course, Mr. Paddy Graffin, the Head Groundsman, Mr. Chris Shanahan and Racecourse Manager, Mr. Owen Byrne. Mr. Paddy Graffin stated that he had requested from the Raceday Stewards to omit Hurdle number 4 due to the low lying sun and that the hurdle attendants at Hurdle number 3 had seen the omitted hurdle being removed and took this as a sign that it was the end of the hurdle races. He further added that while it was his responsibility to ensure the correct number of hurdes were being jumped, from his usual position on the track he did not see it being removed. He added that provisions were going to be made going forward to prevent this from occurring again. Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that the error was an isolated incident and that all precautions will be put in place to ensure that there is no reoccurrence. Furthermore they were satisfied that no horse was inconvenienced by the omission of Hurdle number 3 and took no further action

An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-95 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
