The winner, John Barbour (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newton Abbott on 29 September 2025 where the gelding finished fourth of twelve runners, beaten by 27¼ lengths.
Fergal O’Brien’s explanation that the gelding had benefitted by stepping up in trip from 2 miles 1 furlong to 2 miles and 4 furlongs, as well as running on softer ground, which was officially described as Good to Soft on this occasion, was noted.
John Barbour (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jonjo O’Neill Jr reported that The Long Walk (IRE), which was pulled up, hung badly right-handed; Daire McConville reported that Book Of Tales (GB), which was pulled up, was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that Streamsforth Lad (IRE), placed fifth, lost a right-fore shoe.
