THE ASCOT EVENTS EBF MAIDEN FILLIES' STAKES (CLASS 2) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for Clarity (IRE) and Just Scarlet (GB) to both wear red hoods to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race, involving the winner, Clarity (IRE), ridden by James Doyle and Divide And Conquer (IRE), placed second, ridden by Rossa Ryan.
An additional instance of interference was also considered, involving Clarity (IRE), Divide And Conquer (IRE) and Stormhaven (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Pat Dobbs.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Clarity (IRE)’s placing as the ground and momentum lost by Divide And Conquer (IRE) was less than the extending neck at the line, by which Ryan was beaten by and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The incident concerning the placings, half a furlong out, was found to be accidental, as Clarity (IRE) had lugged left-handed, bumping and unbalancing Divide And Conquer (IRE) and thereafter hung left-handed, despite Doyle’s efforts, intimidating Ryan off his intended line.
The additional instance, approaching half a furlong out, Doyle was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed Clarity (IRE) to drift left-handed, without sufficient correction, causing Dobbs to take a check for a number of strides.
