THE BETFRED DIOMED STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 3) Permission was given for Chancellor (GB), Ice Max (GB), Persica (IRE), Royal Playwright (GB), and Seagulls Eleven (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately two furlongs out involving Persica (IRE), placed second, ridden by Sean Levey, and the Royal Playwright (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa.
Levey was suspended for 3 days for careless riding for angling his mount right-handed causing Royal Playwright (GB) to be taken notably off its intended line and resulting in De Sousa having to steady his mount on two separate occasions.
Inside the final half furlong out, Ice Max (GB), placed fourth, and Skukuza (GB), placed sixth, became momentarily short of room when awkwardly placed on the outside of Boiling Point (IRE), placed third, which had edged slightly right-handed, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved the placing of any horse.
